Job Summary
The Scrum Master is critical in fostering and implementing agile practices to enhance the efficiency, collaboration, and delivery of our innovative solutions. The Scrum Master has a firm grasp of agile practices and can effectively manage and mentor development teams. The Scrum Master is responsible for creating and onboarding project teams. Further, he leads the team with a clear vision of the end goal by working collaboratively with the engineers and product managers on the overall product vision.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Facilitation and Coaching
- Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and progress tracking by guiding and coaching the scrum team in agile principles and practices and facilitating scrum events (daily standups, sprintplanning, sprint reviews, inspect and adapt, ART sync, and sprint retrospectives).
- Empower the team to self-organise and make informed decisions.
Team Collaboration
- Foster a collaborative environment that promotes open communication and knowledge sharing.
- Address and resolve conflicts within the team to maintain a positive and productive atmosphere.
Product Backlog Management
- Collaborate with the Product Owner to ensure the product backlog is well-defined, estimated, and
prioritised, enabling the team to understand the scope and objectives of each sprint.
Iteration Planning and Execution
- Lead iteration planning sessions to define iteration goals and select user stories for the upcoming sprint, shielding the team from external disruptions to focus on delivering committed work.
Continuous Improvement
- Facilitate sprint retrospectives to identify improvement areas and implement actions to enhance team performance. Encourage experimentation and adaptation of agile practices to optimise efficiency and quality.
- Eliminate bottlenecks, delays, and waste to improve the team's workflow.
Metrics and Reporting
- Track key Agile metrics (velocity, burn-down/up charts, etc.) to monitor the team's progress and identify potential issues, providing transparent and concise status reports to stakeholders to ensure alignment on project status.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with stakeholders to manage expectations and communicate project status, effectively addressing stakeholder feedback and incorporating it into the development process when appropriate.
Scrum Master Community Involvement
- Stay updated on industry best practices, Agile trends, and Scrum methodologies, sharing insights and experiences with other Scrum Masters to promote continuous learning and improvement.
PI Planning
- Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and the Release Train Engineer (RTE) during PI Planning, working actively with the team to ensure successful planning and execution.
Support SAFe Adoption
- Support the adoption of SAFe across the business by coaching stakeholders and non-Agile team members, coordinating inter-team cooperation, and helping the team function efficiently on the Agile Release Train (ART).
Risk Management
- Identify and manage risks proactively, implementing mitigation strategies to minimise the impact on project timelines and deliverables, ensuring the team can focus on sprint goals.
Quality Assurance
- Implementing and supporting continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices that promote a quality culture within the team and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Training and Development
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their Agile skills and knowledge, ensuring the team remains current with industry best practices.
esource Allocation
- Ensure optimal allocation and utilisation of team resources to maximise productivity and efficiency, adjusting plans to accommodate changing priorities and workloads.
Communication Management
- Maintain clear and consistent communication channels within the team and with external stakeholders, ensuring all parties are informed of progress, changes, and potential issues.
Conflict Resolution
- Address and resolve conflicts within the team quickly and effectively, maintaining a harmonious and productive work environment.
EDUCATION
Evidence of strong industry/sector participation and relevant professional certifications such as:
- Relevant agile certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (CSP), SAFe 6 Scrum Master, or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) are preferred.
- PMP is a Plus
- Strong understanding of agile principles, values, and practices, with a track record of successful agile implementation and delivery.
- Proven track record of successfully facilitating Agile projects and driving teams towards high performance.
- Experience with financial technology or related domains is a plus.
- Familiarity with software development and product management practices.
EXPERIENCE
General Experience
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or Lean.
